On The Apple Event
- iPod Nano is a great value.
- iPod Classic is a necessary dud.
- Will be waiting for the next iteration of the iPod Touch.
If Starbucks is the first hear-and-buy partner, then Barnes and Noble is probably not far behind given BN’s symbiotic relationship with SB.
BTW – How is Starbucks giving out T-Mobile Hotspot bandwidth for this integration?
Review: Sunshine
Have not seen a movie like that in a while. Beautiful cinematography, great sci-fi as context for character driven drama – accentuated by really personal camera angles. Reminiscent of every great space movie made. Overall, worth a trip to the theater.
Krebs On IC’s A-Space
Valdis Krebs offers some insight on knowledge networking to break down information silos in the intelligence community:
IMHO, just putting social web technology into a strong culture, averse to sharing and connecting, will not change how things get done. My Space and and Facebook worked because they were dropped into cultures eager to connect. The IC needs to get the sociology right before they support a new culture with new technology.
Of course, his images are amazingly informative in their simplicity
Fun With Windows And Keyboards
Been trying to reinstall XP after a brief and ill advised trip into Vista.
Got as far as the “personalize” screen, which asks for your name and organization, with a functioning keyboard. At that point XP refused to recognize my wireless keyboard, an additional USB keyboard, as well as denying the existence of each when paired with a USB-PS/2 adapter.
Throughout the entire process I was able to enjoy full support for my wireless USB mouse connected via the same wireless USB hub as the first keyboard. Wasted an hour and a half before desperately right clicking and inserting random unicode and clicking enter.
LOL, bypassed all the nonsense and now have a functioning machine.
As an aside: When installing Windows on a newly formatted machine, make sure to leave it incapable of accessing any sort of network until you have a firewall built in. You literally have seconds on that battlefield before malware will mow you down.
More On EBO Against Iran
THE Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians’ military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.
Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for “pinprick strikes” against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military,” he said.
