This statistic is misleading. It is only significant if the same people stay in the same income percentiles – which they don’t. The lower incomes get filled by new immigrants who then work there way up the ladder too.
Also, the prices going up comment is also context-free. In many ways that you can measure prices they are less. Also, apples-to-oranges comparisons are hard to normalize and present.
So, you say “brilliant”…I say flawed/skewed – not analysis but influence-making-directed political commentary.
