Return of the Community Bard?

Think of your investors (fans) as micro-investors. Convince them with a pitch (first album) and then ask them to support your future ventures (albums orĀ  more likely individual songs). Those above a certain dollar amount can share the returns, while the rest can enjoy your product at a level affordable to them.

Ari Hest has already pioneered this with his 52 idea.
