About Shlok Vaidya

Shlok Vaidya is currently the Managing Editor at Resilient Communities and its companion subscription research service, Resilient Strategies. Working with some of the smartest technologists, designers, publishers, and thinkers in the world, Shlok’s team develops analysis about the decentralized production of food, energy, and complex goods.

In 2012, Shlok wrote a book called The Rise of Siri about Apple. The book was covered in major technology publications and sold better than 99% of self-published fiction. It also accurately predicted specifics about Apple’s internal workings. Whether the geopolitical analysis proves true remains to be seen.

In 2011, Shlok was named one of the top 100 tech entrepreneurs in New Orleans. He’s a consultant for the government (DoD etc) and MixZing’s product manager. His work is deeply influenced by his strong understanding of the future of terrorism, technology, and governance.

While with Neoplat he led the team that built S4Momentum - a social media early warning system – and MiiU - a resiliency repository. Prior to this, Shlok examined global energy trends with a focus on infrastructure and the threat of supply disruption at a think tank.

His insight is regularly published in various books, media outlets (TechCrunch, Weekly Standard, Calgary Herald), and quoted by some of the world’s smartest thinkers on warfare, intelligence, and peak oil.  (Including the International Relations and Security Network, Small Wars Journal, the Post Carbon Institute, and the Center for Threat Awareness as well as the widely read Global Guerrillas weblog.)

Shlok wrote extensively on the impact India’s Naxalite insurgency has had on that country’s security environment from 2007 to 2011. It was based on his field research, and the archive is available at Naxalite Rage. Please read his feature article, The Rising Naxalite Rage, for a primer on the topic.
