W. David Stephenson says yes. Simply, he’s right.
Any structured flow of information that ensured transparency could have prevented the causes (the hedge fund shadow economy, unknown derivatives market).
Of course, that would have required a culture that incentivized (or demanded to participate) this kind of information flow (real capitalism depends on a transparent market – otherwise it’s predatory).
