Spiraling Down The Drain

Reuters –

“Our goal in Iraq is clear and unchanging: Our goal is victory. What is changing are the tactics we use to achieve that goal,” Bush said in his weekly radio address.

Classic doom loop

They start down one path, only to change direction. After years of lurching back and forth, these companies discover that they’ve failed to build any sustained momentum.

Response to GGs as 5GW

Some late night thoughts on Curtis dismissing GGs as 5GW –

The reason that Robb’s theory has repeatedly sustained charges of incoherency is simply that he has not considered angels, or superempowered builders of order and stability, even while accidentally suggesting something similar via his three pillars of GG: a bazaar of violence, black globalization, and virtual states.

These “angels” are still over the horizon and can only come into play when an existential imperative is in place (brought about by these “demons”). And when they do come about they’ll be acting on a micro scale (a tribal world is a fragmented world). And “demons” will have a competitive advantage – experience, and it’s easier to destroy than to create.

Robb’s GG will be the inept ones: causing perturbations will be the easy part, but accomplishing the new rule-sets may be beyond them.

At a small enough scale rule-sets can be immediately created and implemented.

Question On Order-

Where is everyone who thinks that Robb thinks order will not emerge from GG induced chaos coming from?

Was I the only one who read Power to the People?.

GG’s as 4GW and 5GW

Not sure what all the hubub is about regarding “incoherence” in Robb’s references to GG’s as 4GW or 5GW. The generational model is known to have a large degree of generational overlap. Refer to Chet Richard’s easy to read one page PPT presentation for details.

Global Guerrillas are advanced 4GW and early 5GW.

(On a similar note: This is why the idea of classifying GGs as 3GW is misguided. New generations internalize the previous ones, but leverage old methods to new ends enabled by a new societal context.)

Total Recall

CNN – This would be nice to have around.

He’s trying to devise what amounts to a digital diary, a searchable database that contains digitized versions of nearly everything in his life.

There are two parts to the project. The first is Bell’s experiment with life storage — capturing his papers, faxes, phone calls, photographs and home movies in digitalized form. The second part focuses on developing software that would support this type of lifetime library on anyone’s computer.
