Wasting More On DoD Is Not the Solution
At a time when city and state governments are collapsing, amping up the DoD is not the right move. Gutting most of it investing in core governance stacks that actually work is a much better idea.
It’s better for the economy (wealth distribution), better for fragile nation-state legitimacy (small governments are responsive governments), and more useful in terms of fighting off real threats rather than the ghost of Cold war past.
Of course, none of that is likely to happen given the degree of waste, corruption, and ineptitude that is rampant in the military’s massive procurement system.
