We Are All Tajnagar Now.

Really great example of how local level collaboration can yield economic growth, utilizing existing national infrastructure. More at Naxalite Rage.

Profiling as a Virtual Firewall

Hilarious, the bad guys get away with another win. In this case, it’s invasive searches (really alienating if you’ve never experienced it) as well as travel delays for 99.99% of the traveling population of 14 “danger zone” countries trying to go about their lives.

Meanwhile, the bad guys will just route around these danger zones and get to the US from there. Extremely easy to do.

A new variant of the same strategy that will yield the same rewards as the Maginot Line.

MouseTrap Security

Watched a cartoon last night. Had a great lesson in tightly wound (ultralinear) security systems.

The owner of the house, in an effort to rid the place of Jerry the mouse, has placed mousetraps everywhere with huge hunks of beautiful cheese in them. Unfortunately for her, Jerry has mastered the art of springing these traps with a stick (with no risk to self) and retrieves the cheese undeterred. In fact, he has the run of the place – wandering around and retrieving items from the dining table… reducing the owner of the house to jumping on the coffee table screaming as he goes about his business.

Now consider the incident in Newark.

Cuba’s CraigsBlackList

Something I wrote about a year ago is a reality in Cuba. An early iteration of a CraigsList for illicit goods.

Total Air Superiority…

Means you can use turboprop spy planes. Great move on the part of someone – 37 of these planes for just under $1 billion. Order of magnitude better than traditional acquisition cycles.
