Smart Cell Phone Networks

USAToday– Something innovative –

Homeland Security officials are looking into outfitting cellphones with detectors that would alert emergency responders to radiological isotopes, toxic chemicals and biological agents such as anthrax.

Looks to be shaping up to be voluntary only, but gut tells me this is something that outweighs the potential privacy costs. (Make the data centers local to have better accountability. Have these decentralized beepers go off in case of the development of a cluster in a specific area.)
