Positioning for the next election the same way the Dems did for Obama last time. Gives the keynote, enjoys the praise, gets to know the machinery, and then pounces next time around as the savior.
And he’s smart enough to play it right too.
(I’m no fan, but the guy knows how to be on the fast track.)
(All this is dependent upon McCain not winning, which discounts a major security incident)
