Why is the debate so off the mark in terms of renewables vs nuclear tech? Neither will have an impact on the 97% of transportation energy that is oil based.
(Not sure I buy that we have the ability to immediately leap to plugin hybrids. )

That is where short-term planning ends, and medium-term planning begins.
A fixation on short-term solutions has its place, but non-short-term thinking is hardly “off the mark.”
